Design Description
Our design depicts Musical technology in the 80s, with a modernized disco twist. We chose CDs as it has no use today due to modern technology. However, to the likes of our parents or grandparents, it represents their adolescent years. We found rooting out old CDs brought back a lot of memories, for our parents and us especially, as we found CDs of their favorite singers from when they were younger. We decided to keep the design quite vibrant and flashy. This is because we all envision the 80s to be a very bright and radiant time, especially in music.
Materials Used: we cut up CDs into various shapes. We intricately sewed the CDs onto an old turtleneck top and used hot glue to secure them. We did the same for the skirt. We measured some cardboard to fit our model’s head for the headpiece, then used old Christmas decorations to create the headpiece and hot glued the beads to the cardboard. We used fishing net mesh for the singular sleeve, and for the old shoes, we layered broken CDs to create a mosaic pattern.
