Carndonagh Community School, Co. Donegal
The design is a fishtail dress with a corset-style bodice. It was used a mix of materials throughout the dress to add texture and depth. For the top, the student used blue tubing of different thicknesses to weave a corset shape. She manipulated thicker tubing into a shoulder piece to add volume to my dress. The skirt was inspired by Balmain’s dresses. It was cut blue and white triangles from both the packaging and surgical trays and attached to navy scrubs. She used tubing on a surgical tablecloth to make the skirt bottom. The headpiece was made using tubes and needles from a breast biopsy device.
Materials Used: All of the materials were out-of-date surgical equipment. She used mainly breast biopsy devices, which included the sharp needles in my headpiece and dark and light tubing. They also came in white plastic trays which it was used on the skirt and left shoulder. She used out dated knee replacement kits which included blue trays, that was cut up for the skirt, and blue table cloths which was used on the bottom of my skirt. She used navy scrubs as a base for the skirt.
