Design Description
The design Divoc-91 symbolizes the challenges/struggles associated with hidden disabilities and the difficulty of our current Covid-19 situation. The piece has an armor-like look, embodying the strength those with invisible disabilities bear in their everyday lives. The skirt presents itself as a ‘cage’ symbolizing the trapped feeling of those with such disabilities and the global pandemic, which has taken a significant toll on our lives. The students used organization, precision, teamwork, and many more. Techniques like knitting, cutting, hot gluing, and soldering were used.
Materials Used: For our design, we used medical materials to tie into our theme of hidden disabilities/Covid-19: contact lens holders, injection holders, tablet blister packets, Pentasa sachets, film tape for a medical tv-show and wrapping for medical boxes. We knitted the film tape for our skirt. We used a soldering iron to connect the wrapping for the outer skirt!
