Design Description
Inspired by the power of music to unite and inspire change, ‘Dress for the Record’ is made from 12 damaged vinyl records, representing music’s strength and influence. Inspired by Paco Rabanne’s futuristic designs and Iris van Herpen’s structured silhouettes, this piece shows how music, like fashion, crosses borders, languages, and cultures. Since vinyl records are difficult to recycle, they have been reshaped using heat, representing music’s lasting impact. Weaving and braiding techniques are also used throughout the design.
