Design Description
The designer has always been someone who has found beauty in the contrast of black and white; therefore, she wanted to base her piece on these colours, showing how two things that are are seemingly opposite can create cohesion once amalgamated. She decided to take inspiration from the imagery of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, creating attire that you could find a character in Wonderland adorned in. To achieve this, she used a range of folding techniques to make the flower-like adornments, which she placed on top of my crafted circle skirt via hot glue, also hand sewing my top materials together with black thread.
Materials Used: A range of recycled materials, including string, packaging foam, table placemats, table covering, cardboard, the metal of a hairband, and a form of protective plastic packaging. She used the string to hold the folding on the adornments of the skirt and hand sewed certain areas of the table placemats to make them fold in, helping to create the top of the bodice.
