Design Description
Inspired by the ongoing crisis in Palestine, ‘Hope Amongst the Ashes’ captures both the devastation of war and the resilience of those affected. The cardboard skirt and shattered CD sleeves mirror collapsed buildings, while the black-stained bodice reflects ash and pollution. Chains and soda tabs symbolize oppression, while newspaper flowers bloom from despair to hope. Feathers honor lost lives and the strength to keep fighting. Woven cultural fabrics reinforce identity, reminding us of war’s lasting human and environmental toll. This design highlights displacement, hunger, and loss, while calling for peace and justice.
