Design Description
“Inside Out” is a modern interpretation of what is located inside the body. Inspired by fashion designers such as Katie Eary and Iris Van Herpen who created designs inspired by human anatomy. The sculpted bodies of the dress represent muscles and strength. The visible stitching throughout the design conveys our physical and emotional scars and healing. Dyed red tights resembles essential blood. Displaying who we are on the inside on the outside. Made from recycled textiles, in attempt to protect our environment and combat fast fashion.
Materials Used: “Inside Out” is made 100% from old and ripped tights, stockings and pop socks gathered from friends, family and the local community. To create the garment they dyed the tights, then sculpted and sewed all the tights together by hand. They then sewed on an old recycled zip onto the garment by sewing machine.
