Design Description

Inspired by ocean acidification, ‘La Mer Bougie’ transforms recycled tealight cases and silver wicks to raise awareness about climate change’s impact on our oceans. The corset is crafted from wicks and broken cases, while a skirt built on pipes and rope is decorated with 600 hand-twisted tealights. A custom headpiece and flat pump-style shoes, made from crushed tealights and wicks, complete the look. This design highlights how high CO2 emissions drive ocean acidification—reminding us that even tealights contribute to the problem!
