Design Description

Inspired by the natural Irish landscape of their childhoods, ‘Lir’s Child’ brings folklore to life through sustainability. The designers reimagine The Children of Lir, using waste materials to reflect the swans’ transformation. A thrifted denim jacket and jeans mirror the deep waters of Lough Derravaragh, while white plastic milk cartons, shaped into layered feathers, echo the swans and local wildlife. Dried reeds, gathered from familiar marshlands, weave through the design, connecting their childhood landscapes to Ireland’s ancient legend.
