Design Description
Having seen disposable masks littered around the streets of Dublin, the three of us decided to put them to an alternative use. So, we gathered used face masks from everyone we knew, washed them, ironed them, and fashioned them into something beautiful, so that we could appreciate nature, rather than disrupt it with junk. We focused in on the theme of flight and the night sky. The wings represent the strength and beauty of nature that has to be protected. It was an incredible experience for us to be able to work on such a remarkable project during these remarkable times.
Materials Used: Old, washed facemasks sewn together for bodice, skirt and boots. Old pistachio shells for bodice. Feathers from an old duster for wings and bodice. Old mesh for the wing structure. Recycled cardboard and wire for the headpiece
