Party Poppers

School

Mount Saint Michael's Secondary School, Co. Cork

Design Description

The theme for our dress is a party. We wanted our clothing to be bright and colorful, and we think we have achieved that. We used photographic film negative from the chemist, as we could manipulate it to give many different looks. We plaited long strips of it and then plaited those plaits to make it thicker. We also made “scrunches” for our skirt, which were each colour of the reel fashioned to make a “party pop.” we also flattened bottle caps and sprayed painted them, so they were bright and shiny, as we wanted some variation in the material.

Materials Used: We got some digital photograph negative from the chemist that wasn’t being used for the materials. We loved this material as it can be used in many different ways, as you can see on our dress and accessories. We also used old flattened bottle caps, as we wanted new material, and we felt that this stood out and added something to our design. We love how the different materials work together and how many variations you can create.
