Pleasures of the World

School

St. Mary's Catholic College Naas, Co. Kildare

Design Description

Our piece is centered around nature. We took inspiration from places like the Japanese gardens, Ardgillian Castle, and Burton House’s gardens. We wanted to create floral pieces to emulate the feeling of peace and tranquillity you get from being completely separate from the world, with only smears of color and insects for company. We took inspiration from Alexander McQueens’ Spring 2007 and Christian LaCroixs’ Spring 2007. The Outfit tells the story of a maid who wanders the castle gardens, dreaming of a fantastic world beyond the confines of her grounds.

Materials Used: Our shoes were made from old shoes repurposed with paint, newspaper, and old jewelry. The skirt was made from cardboard Panels, cut up, painted, and sewn back together. The bodice is made from an old jean jacket. We dyed pink bandages and placed them.   in neat stripes with strips to create a boning effect. The bodice is embellished with fake flower tops, seashells, and plastic bags. The hat is painted card
