Design Description
Inspired by first-year art GCSE on Indian cultures, ‘Sanskriti’ blends sustainability and heritage in a traditional lengha choli. The skirt is machine-stitched from plastic sheets, with a border made of packing paper from the designer’s aunt and braided jute thread from local vendors. Embellished with coconut tops from the designer’s grandmother’s farm and pistachio shells shaped into diyas, it celebrates Indian artistry and cultural symbolism, overall reflecting the deep-rooted Indian tradition of resourcefulness.
Material Used: Plastic Sheets, Jute, Coconut Tops & Pistachio Shells
SDG: 4 & 12
