EUROSPAR announced as headline sponsor of Junk Kouture 2025

EUROSPAR to support 10 Irish Junk Kouture teams at Junk Kouture World Final

Schools from around the world are currently putting the finishing touches to their designs ahead of a celebration of sustainability and innovation at the Junk Kouture Festival of Creativity and Circularity in Dublin on the 3rd and 4th March, culminating in the EUROSPAR sponsored Junk Kouture World Final on 4th March in the Helix, DCU.

This year’s event marks 15 years of Junk Kouture in Ireland, celebrating its impact in fostering sustainable, creative talent of young people 12-19-years-old at home and away. Following the inaugural World Final in Abu Dhabi and wowing audiences in Monaco with the second, Dublin now has the honour of hosting the third Junk Kouture World Final, showcasing Ireland’s pivotal role in promoting youth creativity and circular innovation since the inception of what is now a global movement. Junk Kouture will host The Lab on 3rd March in The Galleria at the CHQ Building, Dublin, a workshop for students on growth mindset and circular entrepreneurship with guest speakers and alumni of Junk Kouture.

Sixty finalist teams from Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, the USA, and the UAE will present breathtaking couture designs made entirely from recycled materials. From mussel shells to window blinds, expect jaw-dropping innovation and craftsmanship as these young designers compete for the coveted World Designer of the Year title. The designs will be evaluated by a prestigious judging panel of experts in sustainability, fashion, education, and entertainment including American eco-designer, climate activist, Global JK ambassador and author Maya Penn, Buying Director of Primark Sally Taylor, Parisian it-girl and champion of sustainable fashion Lise Pierron and fashion designer and founder of sustainable luxury womenswear brand SML London Stephen McLaughlin. Limited tickets remain, available from www.thehelix.ie starting at €40.

And as Junk Kouture turns 15, it’s with great excitement that Junk Kouture confirms it is partnering with supereasy supermarket group EUROSPAR for a third year! Building on the relationship established in 2023 and 2024, EUROSPAR return as headline sponsor for the competition in 2025, including supporting the Irish team at the upcoming World Final in Dublin on Tuesday 4th March. Much like Junk Kouture, EUROSPAR are at the heart of local communities across Ireland with 52 locally owned supermarkets which help Junk Kouture spread its all-important message of living sustainably.

Junk Kouture designs were on hand at one of EUROSPAR’s flagship stores in Carrickmacross, Co Monaghan to celebrate the renewal of their partnership, including World Finalist Lady of the Landscape made from old duvets, prams from the bogland and 250 plastic bottles designed by Aisling McFadden, Eabha McGinley, and Sinead Browne of Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola, Donegal; Dublin City Finalist Kendallture made from wire hangers and plastic bags from a dry cleaners and inspired by Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala look and the fast fashion crisis, designed by Megan Ward, Chloe Sherry and Aoibhin Carolan, St. Louis Secondary School, Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan; and Junk Kouture alumnus Eve Nelson in her specially-commissioned EUROSPAR design.

Last year, a brand-new initiative Classroom Kouture was launched by EUROSPAR, as they partnered with primary schools local to EUROSPAR supermarkets. This will continue in 2025 and is a great opportunity for EUROSPAR to activate their commitment to responsible retailing.

Marketing Manager of EUROSPAR Claire O’Brien says: “We are delighted to be sponsoring Junk Kouture for the third successive year. Through our commitment to Responsible Retailing, every EUROSPAR retailer is passionate about supporting their local community and we see our sponsorship of Junk Kouture as a natural extension of that commitment. We are especially delighted to have the opportunity to support local schools on their Junk Kouture journey.”

CEO of Junk Kouture Troy Armour says: “We are delighted to have such a well-known and trusted brand like EUROSPAR on board for a third year at Junk Kouture. We are so grateful for the continuing support of EUROSPAR and their 52 locally owned supermarkets in Ireland, and thank them for their support at our World Final in March.”
