Design Description
We wanted to create a dramatic jewel-encrusted look that utilized the waste materials used by the contact lens industry. The materials inspired us when designing. We manipulated said materials to create all sorts of textures. The softer material of the Styrofoam was used on the skirt to create a wistful and playful look. The harder foil material inspired us to construct a structured bodice. To finish the look we used dramatic footwear and shin details using dried contact lenses to create a crystal detail. Our main concept was focusing on contrasting textures and how to create them.
