Junk Kouture announces partnership with Ireland’s newest electricity supply company bright

Junk Kouture is delighted to announce they have entered a partnership with green electricity brand, bright for the 2020 Grand Final, to be broadcast on RTÉ on 4 February, as well as sponsorship of the bright Enterprise Award.

bright’s involvement will see the Belfast-based company partner with the world’s leading creative platform for teenagers and sponsor the Junk Kouture Enterprise Award for the Irish Grand Final in 2020. This prize is awarded to an ambitious and innovative team who have promoted and canvassed for support across social media and in their community.

bright is a green electricity supplier with a mission to bring renewable power to the public with a 100% green electricity tariff. Making it easy to switch with transparent pricing for all, bright’s simple process has seen the company experience steady and significant growth since launching in Ireland in July 2020. The bright app has been designed to make life simple for its customers – with functionality to manage payments, submit meter readings, and access energy saving advice, offers and more all from the palm of your hand.

The Enterprise Award was introduced to the competition in 2019, finding a team that promotes their design creatively and effectively. The prize this year will be the bright Enterprise award trophy and €250 per team member.

During the 2020 instalment of Junk Kouture, over half a million votes were cast in two stages, with teams being challenged to market their designs both online and in their communities and schools. The success of this has also led to the inclusion of the first ever RTÉ People’s Choice Award for the 2020 Grand Final.

The news follows Junk Kouture’s recent Global Launch announcement, which will see the youth fashion programme begin in five new municipalities from January 2021- including London, New York, Paris, Milan and Dubai. The programme will challenge 12-18 year olds from these places to create high-end couture from everyday junk, before displaying them to a global audience via the Junk Kouture platform. National winners will be selected, before a Global Digital Final in June 2021.

Rory Kelly, SVP of Partnerships at Junk Kouture said: “Junk Kouture’s core elements are built around not only creativity and sustainability, but also entrepreneurship and future-planning. This partnership with bright hits on both aspects prominently. Throughout the past eight months, the Junk Kouture team has been challenged to future-proof the programme, and in doing so, bring Junk Kouture to an audience across the world. Our 2020 Grand Final is the beginning of this global journey, and aligning with disruptor, game-changing brands like bright is firmly in our remit going forward.”

Ciaran Devine, CEO of bright said: “We are delighted to be working with such a prestigious, credible programme as Junk Kouture. The creativity and innovation displayed by contestants is incredible, and at bright, we see the enterprise of these young people as being key attributes for future decision-makers. We are a green electricity supplier doing our bit for the planet. This makes sponsoring the bright Enterprise award particularly pleasing, being able to reward a team that has been innovative in their approach to promoting their design.”
