Monserrato students make headlines in Sardinia after Junk Kouture success
Young designers Alice El Haouari and Beatrice Mulana have been featured in L’Unione Sarda following their Junk Kouture success with “Beyond the Cage”, which will represent Italy at the 2026 World Final.
Students from Istituto Comprensivo di Monserrato have been featured in Italian newspaper L’Unione Sarda following their success in Junk Kouture.
Their design, “Beyond the Cage,” created by students Alice El Haouari and Beatrice Mulana, has earned them the opportunity to represent Italy in Dublin in February 2027.
The achievement marks another exciting Junk Kouture success for the Monserrato school, which was also recognised in the 2026 competition.
"At just 14 years old, we have passed the Italian selection of Junk Kouture and now we are flying to Dublin for the World Finals! For us, this is not just a sustainable fashion competition: it feels like we are carrying the weight and the hope of an entire world on our shoulders! From the very beginning, we knew we did not want to create just a simple dress made from recycled materials, but something that would shout what we carry in our hearts and what we feel more and more strongly every day: femicide. Stepping onto that international stage makes our legs tremble, but it also fills us with pride. We will not only bring our creativity abroad, but we also want to cry out for justice and freedom beyond every border. We are ready to wear this cage, but through our colours, we want to shout our desire for freedom!!! Dublin, here we come!" - Alice e Beatrice
The students’ achievement was recently celebrated by Sardinian newspaper L’Unione Sarda, shining a spotlight on the young creatives and their journey with Junk Kouture.
