CHAMPIONING CHANGE IN THE COMMUNITY

Junk Kouture Future Leader Londiwe Ndlovu Named Local Champion by National Youth Council of Ireland

We are thrilled to hear that Londiwe Ndlovu, one of our exceptional Junk Kouture Future Leaders, has been named the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) local champion for the Longford-Westmeath constituency.

Londiwe’s journey with Junk Kouture began in 2021 when her innovative design, ‘It’s All About the Package,’ earned her the prestigious Performance Award. Her creative vision transformed everyday packaging materials into stunning, high-fashion recyclable couture, showcasing her talent and commitment to sustainability.

Since then, Londiwe’s dedication to making a positive impact has taken her to new heights. In 2022, she proudly represented Junk Kouture in Cannes for MIPTV, where she graced the pink carpet and performed on stage as Junk Kouture was awarded first MIP SDG Innovation Award. Even meeting a Hollywood star or two along the way!

Additionally, Londiwe’s remarkable journey as a designer landed her a coveted spot in An Post’s recent campaign, where she is one of four past Junk Kouture designers featured on a commemorative stamp acknowledging the spectacular success of Junk Kouture. The stamp collection was unveiled in May this year, honouring the creativity and impact of young designers like Londiwe.

We are proud of Londiwe and her recent recognition as the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) local champion for the Longford-Westmeath constituency. In her newly appointed role as local champion, Londiwe is dedicated to ensuring that youth work in Athlone and beyond receives the support it deserves during budget allocations. This honour reflects her unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation and advocating for the positive impact of youth work in her community and beyond.

As a Junk Kouture Future Leader, Londiwe embodies the spirit of hard work, dedication, and creativity that defines our network. Her journey serves as a beacon of inspiration, illuminating the path for aspiring young talents to follow their dreams and make a lasting impact in the world.

In Londiwe’s own words, “At the end of the day our young people are the leaders of tomorrow therefore it is vital we work collectively with our local representatives to support young people”.

Congratulations, Londiwe, on this well-deserved achievement! Your journey is an inspiration to us all, and we are immensely proud to have you as a part of our Junk Kouture Future Leaders Network.
