Got Something to Say? Welcome to RE:MADE

Everyone has something to say - an idea, an opinion, a story or a different way of looking at the world. RE:MADE is a space for the Junk Kouture community to do exactly that. We’re inviting young people and Educators from across our community to create and share articles about the topics that matter to them. And while creativity, circularity, sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals are a big part of the Junk Kouture world, RE doesn’t stop there. Maybe you have something to say about school or exams. Perhaps there’s an issue in your community you think deserves more attention. You might want to explore fashion, design, music or culture, share your perspective on something happening in the world, or start a conversation about an issue affecting young people today. Your voice. Your ideas. Your perspective. You don’t need to be an experienced writer to contribute. If you have an idea, an opinion or a story you think others should hear, RE gives you a place to share it with the Junk Kouture community. So, the question is… What do you want to talk about? A few weeks on, we’re looking back at a brilliant experience at The Volcano Summit in Guatemala. Junk Kouture Founder & CEO Troy Armour took to the stage for his session, “The Courage to Stand Out: How Purpose, Vulnerability and Curiosity…”, joined by Junk Kouture designers Haseena Atariwa and Joseph Monaghan. It was particularly special to see Haseena and Joseph share their own experiences and perspectives as part of Troy’s session, bringing young voices directly into the conversation. Junk Kouture is teaming up with the Design & Technology Association for: Embedding Sustainability into the D&T Curriculum with Junk Kouture 📅 Wednesday 16 September 2026 ⏰ 4:30–5:30pm (Online) Join us as we explore practical, achievable ways to embed sustainability into existing D&T teaching, using waste materials as a starting point for design, making and experimentation. Discover ideas that support creativity, innovation and circular thinking while building students’ design skills, problem-solving, collaboration and communication. You’ll also discover how Junk Kouture can complement D&T at KS3, KS4 and KS5, with fully resourced project ideas that can work within lessons, existing projects, clubs and enrichment activities - without needing to redesign your curriculum. “I’m so grateful I got the chance to show my work on stage at the Volcano Summit and to be one of the voices speaking up for Congo”

For Haseena Atariwa, New York-based designer, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) student and STEAM Award winner at the 2024 Junk Kouture World Final, travelling to Guatemala for the Volcano Summit was an opportunity to share her work, connect with new people and use her voice on an international stage. Haseena showcased her La Voix Du Congo design at the Summit, while also learning more about the humanitarian crisis in Congo and the millions of people affected by displacement. “Guatemala was one of the most beautiful places I’ve travelled to so far. I’m so grateful I got the chance to show my work on stage at the Volcano Summit and to be one of the voices speaking up for Congo.” The experience also brought new connections, friendships and inspiration, all of which giving Haseena even greater confidence in what her future could hold. From the Junk Kouture World Final to FIT and now Guatemala, Haseena continues to take her creativity, curiosity and voice far beyond the competition stage.
